Jnanpith Award Winners List in Hindi

The Gyanpeeth Jnanpith Award founded in 1961. It is an Indian Literary award, which is given for the outstanding work done in the field of literature by the Bhartiya Jnanpith. The nominees are selected on the basis of their most outstanding work in writing field.

The financial value of this prize is 1 lakh to 47 lakh. The first winner of this award is Malayalam writer G. Sankara Kurup in 1965 & the Last but not the least award was given in 2016. The award received 57 writers till now, including 7 women authors too.

The nominations for the award are received from various literary experts, teachers, critics, universities, and numerous literary and language associations. The Bengali writer Ashapoorna Devi became the first women award holder of this prestigious award. The most recent winner of the award is Bengali poet and critic Shankha Ghosh who was awarded for the year 2016.
